Jesus and the Joker Yoga Mat

Truth and the fool have always been closer than the throne would like.

The top panel is a medieval oil painting that never got painted — Jesus at the center, but not the sanitized Sunday school version. This one holds a sword horizontally across his chest like a man who came to cut through something. The all-seeing eye triangle above his head. Baphomet beside him, the goat of duality, present and unashamed. Two pinecones flanking him — the ancient symbol of the pineal gland, the third eye in biological form, the organ the Vatican put a giant bronze sculpture of in their courtyard and never explained to the congregation. A Metatron's Cube at his chest. A serpent coiled at his side. And in his other hand, a banner with one word: VERITAS. Truth. The Latin root that every institution that claims to pursue it has spent the most energy managing, containing, and selectively releasing on a schedule that serves its own continuity. A.R.A. beside it like a co-signer.

The bottom panel is the joker — red-capped, ancient-faced, holding a scroll and pulling his eye open with his fingers the way someone does when they're forcing themselves to see something they'd rather look away from. The all-seeing eye triangle floats above him too. A hot dog drifting past. An onion on the table. Pi in the corner. The fool's symbols — the absurd, the layered, the things that make you cry when you peel them, the ratio that never resolves, the food they handed you and called a meal.

The joker and Jesus share the same eye. That's the whole joke. That's the whole gospel.

Truth sits on one end of the mat with a sword and a latin banner. The fool sits on the other end pulling his eye open with his fingers, surrounded by the absurdity of a world that chose the hot dog over the veritas.

The distance between them is exactly the length of a yoga mat.

Rolled out by anyone who has played both roles in the same afternoon.
