Love's Sequestered Drug Yoga Mat

The chase and the wound. The whole story in two panels.

The top panel is ancient and immediate at the same time. A wild man running — ragged, barefoot, desperate — while three women pursue him with lashes and hearts floating in the air around them like the cruelest possible decoration. This isn't romance. This is the oldest trap ever set. The pursuit dressed in beauty. The capture dressed in affection. The whips trailing hearts the way every addiction trails pleasure — the thing that hurts you arriving wrapped in the thing you want most. A.R.A. at the base watching it happen the way the brand always watches — present, unsurprised, already knowing how it ends.

The bottom panel is how it ends. Two cartoon hearts standing in a room that is slowly flooding with blood — their own blood, leaking from a wound in one of them while the other offers a bandage with a smile that is either genuine or the most heartbreaking thing in the image depending on how much you've loved and lost. The bandage won't stop the flood. The room is already past saving. But the heart with the bandage is still offering it anyway because that is what love does even when it's too late — it shows up with the smallest possible solution to the largest possible wound and hands it over anyway.

That's the sequestered drug. Not cannabis this time — though the criminalization rhymes. Love itself. The thing that alters your chemistry more profoundly than anything on any schedule, that makes you chase and bleed and offer bandages in flooded rooms, that was never put on a warning label because the people who profit from your loneliness needed you to keep purchasing the simulation of it instead.

The wild man is still running. The room is still flooding. The bandage is still being offered.

Rolled out by anyone who has been both hearts in that room at different points in the same relationship.
