A lotus blooms at the center in deep teal, its petals each carrying a symbol of the world's major traditions arranged without hierarchy — the Om, the crescent and star, the cross, the Star of David, the dharma wheel. That's the line every tradition dances around and never lands on cleanly. Not which faith was correct. Not which prayers were answered. But the fact that the last breath arrives for everyone regardless — the Christian and the Buddhist, the Muslim and the Hindu, the devoted and the lapsed, the one who prayed every day and the one who never found a building that felt like home. We're all left cold and bare. The ground receives everyone equally. The last breath does not check denomination.

With what you did with your hands. With whether you loved the people in front of you while you still could.
